The Design Process

To give our clients a brief outline and idea of how we work but we very much like to tailor ourselves to each and every client’s home design.

Introduction

AB Design and Interiors offer an initial one hour consultation as an opportunity to meet each other, talk about the home design project, what you would like to achieve. At this meeting we discuss the your needs, personal tastes and how the family works or will work within the space, so that we get a really clear understanding of your hopes and aspirations. We use this information to tailor the design to create a totally unique space for you.

The initial consultation is free of charge with absolutely no obligation.

Listening to and understanding our client is vital to the success of any project.

Chapter One – Mood Board

Starting with something as simple as a page you have pulled from a magazine, a cushion you love, or a pinterest board you have created, we will create mood boards (plus visuals and floor plans where required) with a “shopping list” style budget. This board gives the overall look and feel of either an individual room or the property as a whole and is used as an important visual reference for choosing furniture, fabrics and other samples.

A nominal fee is agreed at this stage in order for AB Design and Interiors to produce the mood board and subsequent design schemes that are presented to the client at the next stage following a site survey.

Chapter Two – Design Schemes

Following agreement on the mood board, design schemes are produced.
A design for each room is presented, showing the colour scheme, furniture pieces, lighting specification, floor finishes, fabric palettes and room layouts.

Following the initial presentation, schemes are revised where necessary, until you are completely happy.

Home design is extremely personal and unique and tailored to each of our clients individual needs and tastes.

Chapter Five – Fees

It is of the utmost importance to us that you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the design process, so it is vital that costs are clear from the outset and are tailored to fit your budget. We always work within the budget set by the you for your home design.

Fees vary accordingly to the room size and the scope of works.

The interior design fee covers the sourcing of the furniture, fixtures and fittings, fabrics, wall-coverings, floor finishes and all provision of relevant samples for you to review.
The project management fee is charged either by the hour or as a percentage of the build cost, whichever you are most comfortable with.
